One of the biggest concerns I hear from patients considering African American rhinoplasty is the fear of looking “overdone” or losing the features that make their face uniquely theirs.
This patient was particularly bothered by the width of her nose from the frontal view, especially when smiling, as well as the width she noticed consistently from the side profile. Her goal was to make her nose overall smaller and more refined while still maintaining harmony with the rest of her features.
By carefully altering the nose, Dr. Shah is able to create a more balanced relationship between the nose and the surrounding facial features. What’s interesting is that it may look as though other areas of her face were treated but in reality, the change you’re seeing comes from the rhinoplasty alone. Sometimes, refining one central feature can completely change the way the rest of the face is perceived.
