It is amazing how that particular smell of perfume or aroma of a particular garden can evoke a memory. In fact, many astute people use this sense to their advantage. In fact, many astute people use this sense to their advantage. For example, real estate agents will sometimes bake cookies in house during an open house, so that a warm pleasant memory of fresh cookies emanates throughout the house.

There is a science behind smell and our minds. When we smell something, the neural impulses travel to the temporal lobe, the same part of the brain that deals with emotions. Our memory from smells can be quite profound. In fact, some scientists believe our smell memory may be more accurate than visual memory. Our sense of smell is highly sensitive to our bodies and little factors like the medicines we take, our mood can affect how we process and understand a smell.
