The recent Miss USA competition had its share of controveries. One such instance was that the paegent officials paid for a contestant’s breast augmentation. However, some European countries are banning plastic surgery from competition completely. The idea is to create a level playing field for all of the contestants.
I seriously doubt this will lead to testing. First of all, for some procedures such as rhinoplasty it would be sort of hard or impossible for some procedures to be tested for, merely educated speculation. Many of may patients seek my services to create a nose which looks so natural (create a natural dorsal line/ soft nasal tip/ etc) even another plastic surgeon would not be able to tell if she/he had work done and would be nearly impossible to tell if a rhinoplasty has been performed. Additionally, what if a candidate had a broken nose or breathing problems and required functional work. Perhaps the easiest procedure to test for would be breast augmentation.
