When the Sun Is Shining, You Don’t Have To: How to Summer Proof Your Makeup

05/12/2011 by Anil R. Shah, MD

My makeup always melts when it is hot? How can I keep it in place?

Summer is coming (we hope)! So, that means getting ready for heat, perspiration, and sun. Sweat is a natural part of summer, and now that we know how to deal with it under our arms we can now banish it from our face. Makeup can rub off both from sweat or with excessive amounts of oil. Dr. Shah suggests the use of oil control products, which keep the skin’s natural moisture in balance.

OC Eight is a mattifying gel which controls oil by the use of micro-particles called Acrysorb, which traps oil on the skin surface. But does it clog pores? No! A study showed that patients actually had FEWER blackheads with OC Eight. First wash your face free with a gentle cleanser. Then use any Vitamin C, growth factors or other skin medications. Next apply sunscreen. Once your face is dry to the touch apply a thin layer of OC Eight Matifying Gel. Finally, apply oil-free makeup, if desired. Makeup was clinically shown to have that “just applied” look for up to 8 hours, hence the name.

OC eight is one of many recommended skin care products offered in Dr Shah’s Michigan Avenue practice.
