Threads are NOT reversible so you may have to wait for them to dissolve if you don’t like them.
How long have threads been put in noses?
Well it depends on your definition. Threads are made up of either PLLA or PDO both of which are the same material as sutures. These types of sutures have been put in the nose since at least the 1970’s. The use of threads as independent placements in the nose is relatively new. Dr. Shah has been using them for at least 4 years.
So are Rhinoplasty threads as strong as a structural rhinoplasty?
Threads are NOT even close to as strong. They can help fortify the nose, straighten the light reflex along the bridge and help with some nuances in shape with the nose.
Can you do threads if you already have had a rhinoplasty?
Yes, threads are an ALTERNATIVE to revision rhinoplasty in SELECT cases.
