Pre Event Timeline: What to Do When

07/01/2016 by Anil R. Shah, MD

The table below is intended to serve as a guide for brides, mothers of the bride, fathers of the bride, or any person involved in a “big event”. Big events can include a high school or college reunion, family reunion, wedding anniversary, or award ceremony. During these big events, it is understandable that patients want to look and feel their best.

Botox: Ideally Botox is injected 1-2 weeks prior to a big event to allow it to help fading wrinkles as soon as possible. It should not be injected too close to a big event, because the effects take a week to kick in and in rare cases bruising can occur.

Facial Filler: A facial filler should be injected at a minimum of 2 weeks prior, so that in the rare case that their is any bruising it will have dissipated by the time of the big event.

Latisse: Latisse should be started 3 months prior to allow the product an adequate amount of time to work.

Eyelifts: Eyelifts should take place about 3 months prior to allow swelling to be decreased

Neck Liposuction: Should ideally should be performed a minimum of 3 months to allow for the maximum contour of the neck to be achieved.

Nasal Rehshaping (Rhinoplasty): Nasal Reshaping should be performed as soon as 3 months, but ideally 6 months to 1 year before and event

Facelifts and Browlifts: Facelifts and Browlifts should be performed 3 months prior to allow for appropriate amount of healing

Acne Scars: Acne Scars typically need multiple sessions of therapy and should be started ideally 1 year prior to big event

Lip Augmentation: Lip Enhancement can be performed 2 weeks ahead of time.
