Spreader grafts
Spreader grafts are used to widen the middle vault of the nose. They are placed between the upper lateral cartilage and the dorsal septum. These grafts are useful in patients with narrow middle portion of the nose. These grafts can help open up the internal nasal valve which can help improve breathing in select patients. In addition, these grafts can help widen the middle portion of the nose, in particular after an inverted- V deformity. Initially, the patient may appear slightly wider on postoperative views with this graft placed. However, over time the patients nose will narrow and the appearance will improve. These grafts can be placed with either an endonasal approach or an open approach.
“The nose should fit the face”
A strong jawline would suggest a stronger nose.
