From Pageant Dreams to Modeling Reality: A Custom Rhinoplasty Case Study
Overview
In the world of pageants and modeling, facial balance matters. For Angeliz, a Hispanic patient with national pageant goals, rhinoplasty was not about creating a generic look. It was about refining her features, improving her breathing, and preserving the identity that made her face uniquely hers.
Before surgery, Angeliz felt that her nose affected both her confidence and her performance. She had struggled in earlier pageant attempts and knew she wanted a result that would help her feel more composed on stage and in front of the camera. Her goal was not to erase her heritage, but to create a nose that complemented her features naturally.

The Surgical Plan
Dr. Shah used his 5D Rhinoplasty approach with piezo ultrasonic technology to address both cosmetic and functional concerns. The bridge was refined with ultrasonic tools, the tip was shaped to sit more gracefully, and internal deviations were corrected to improve airflow.
Because Angeliz had only two and a half months before her next major competition, the recovery plan was especially important. Ultrasonic technology allowed the nasal bones to be shaped with precision while minimizing trauma to surrounding tissue, helping reduce swelling and bruising compared with more traditional approaches.
Recovery and Result
During the first week, Angeliz wore a protective external splint while the nose began healing. Once the splint was removed, the early refinement was already visible, and her breathing had improved. By the time her competition arrived, she was healed enough to feel camera-ready and confident.
Angeliz went on to win Miss Illinois and advance to the Miss USA stage. Today, she continues to work as a professional model and ambassador. One of the most meaningful parts of her result is how natural it looks. Her nose no longer feels like an insecurity. It feels like a feature that belongs to her face.
