Many patients ask Dr. Shah if he is able to see how a nose will look post operative during an open rhinoplasty procedure. This case illustrates what Dr. Shah sees on the outside of the nose during the procedure. Warning, there are some intraoperative photographs so it may be too graphic for some.
This patient was seeking improvement in both breathing as well as improvement in appearance of the nose. The main issue was making a change which was reflective of the patient’s aesthetic of keeping a slight convexity to ensure a natural appearance, while improving the overall shape and aesthetic. The video demonstrates how the nose looks with the patient under anesthesia, after injection, after opening the nose, after reduction of one portion of the nasal hump, after further reduction, and then tip refinement. The step by step intraoperative photographs give insight on the type of changes which occur and how Dr. Shah controls the nose during rhinoplasty.
The after photographs demonstrate a natural appearance to the nose, staying true to both the patient’s aesthetic as well as ethnicity.
