Special Event Plastic Surgery

Big event plastic surgery

It seems like every part of the year, the big event is happening and we need to look good. It might be a wedding, a reunion, or the annual holiday party. There are certain times when we need to look good. The goal though is to make the patient feel confident and look great for the event, rather than worry about bruising or swelling. Each procedure has a different period of healing and variability in bruising.

However, just like the event itself needs to be planned, so does any procedures near the event. A minor touch up with botox can be done as few as 4 days in advance. The use of a facial filler like restylane or juvederm can be done as soon as one week prior to an event in order to ensure no bruising will be present.

Surgical procedures may need more time to recover depending on the technique. Eye rejuvenation should be done at least two events prior to a big event to prevent any residual swelling from being present. For patients with a standard deep plane facelift, we recommend at least a month to ensure all swelling, bruising are absent. A minilift can cut down on the swelling but patients should probably still leave a month.

Some patients seek rhinoplasty prior to a big event. Depending on the type of rhinoplasty , three weeks to three months may be appropriate. Finesse rhinoplasty patients may have minimal swelling as soon as two weeks after surgery. Open rhinoplasty patients will have a longer period of recovery and will look better at two weeks than before surgery, but will still have swelling to deal with.
