Until recently, there has been limited treatment available for improving acne scars. Many past treatments have posed serious risks such as the risks of permanent scarring and hyper and hypopigmentation. Dr. Shah has found Medical Roll CIT to be a very successful, safe solution for improving acne scarring using collagen deposition. Mrc is performed in the office setting at Dr. Shah’s Chicago, Illinois based office. There is approximately one week downtime and results are seen as early as two week. Other treatments for acne scarring include CROSS (chemical reconstruction of skin scars), dermabrasion, and subcision.
There are a wide range of skin types which comprise ethnic skin. Many patients of ethnicity, including those of African American, Asian, Middle Eastern and Hispanic descent, often have thicker skin which can present its own challenges, particularly in terms of results achieved with plastic surgery procedures. In addition, some ethnicities have certain sensitivities or are more prone to certain complications such as keloid scarring. Having an understanding of ethnic skin is essential to ensuring positive outcomes.
Mohs Reconstruction is a surgical procedure to repair defects resulting from the removal of cancerous tissue via Mohs surgery. Mohs surgery is one of the most advanced techniques for treating skin cancer but it can, in many instances, leave significant defects. Many patients choose to have these defects improved, particularly when they occur on visible areas like the face.
