WHAT IS RADIESSE?
Radiesse is a dermal filler made up of calcium hydroxapatite. This is the same material found in bone, so it is well tolerated by the body. Radiesse works by creating a process called collagenesis which can stimulate collage to be produced in areas where it is injected.
Radiesse is non reversible so it is important that the injector has experience in
placement. Allergic reactions are rare, and there is some possiblity of nodule formation
WHERE IS USED?
Dr. Shah uses Radiesse to add volume to the face, cheeks, lower lid cheekbone interface, nasolabial folds and along the jawline.
WHERE IS IT NOT USED?
According to Dr. Shah, Radiesse should never be used in the nose, lips or in the nasojugal folds.
HOW DOES RADIESSE WORK?
Radiesse begins a process called neocollagnesis where Radiesse is injected that stimulates the production of new collagen. This process leads to extended, natural results.
HOW WE AGE
As we grow older, our face does not aging in one area. Thus, aging should not be treated in only one area. It is important that an injector understand this, and treat aging globally rather than in one location.
Downtime with Radiesse is very minimal. Most patients are 'resturant ready' very shortly post injection. Dr. Shah patients typically have minimal bruising and swelling post procedure with this product
DR. SHAH'S TAKE ON THIS FACIAL FILLER
Radiesse is an excellent filler with a long standing track record of safety. It is critically important that the injector have experience with this filler as it is non-reversible and used in the wrong anatomic plane can create visual and palpable deformities. I have seen patients from outside injectors who have had long recovery period.
