Nasal Exercises

Occasionally after rhinoplasty, rhinoplasty exercises are used to help straighten the nose. When there is complete fractures of the nasal bones, they maintain mobility for six weeks and greater. During their healing time, occasionally it is desirable to apply finger pressure to the nasal bones in order to reposition the nasal bones. Most often positioning of the nasal bones is needed after extremely wide nasal bones or deviated nasal bones.
Directions for nasal exercises (Only perform under direction of surgeon)
- Use the pad of index finger and apply pressure where directed by physician. Apply pressure for one minute every hour.
- Follow up with physician is important to verify that exercises are being performed appropriately and when to stop.
- A small amount of pressure may be felt with nasal exercises.
