Dorsal Augmentation Grafts | Chicago Rhinoplasty Grafts
Dorsal augmentation grafts are used to augment the nasal dorsum. Autogenous substances are preferred over alloplastic materials (Dr. Shah does not use alloplastic materials).
Septal cartilage can be layered to create moderate dorsal augmentation. In some cases, costal cartilage is utilized, where the graft can be carved to improve the shape of the dorsum. Auricular cartilage is less common used.
When using costal cartilage as a dorsal graft, perichondrial cover is useful to help camoflauge the edges.
