Cauliflowers or Wrestler's Ear

Cauliflower ears or wrestler’s ear is when a hematoma occurs in the ear.  The excess blood  creates a hard material called neocartilage.  This can lead to obstruction of the normal landmarks of the ear and create visible deformity of the ear.  Dr. Shah does not recommend correction of this until an individual is done with contact sports.  For example a Mixed Martial Artist who seeks correction would not benefit until he or she has retired.

Ears are corrected by removing the neocartilage with a variety of instruments designed for this task.  A better appearance of the ear will result leading to less conspicuous ear.
