Nasal Projection

The projection of the nose means in simplistic terms how far the nose sticks out from the face. There are a variety of measures which attempt to correlate the size of the nose or the face with how far it sticks out.

Goode Method

The Goode Method measures nasal projection by drawing a line through the alar crease which is perpendicular to the Frankfort Horizontal line. From there a line is drawn to the nasal tip. An additonal line is drawn from the nasal starting point (nasion) to the nasal tip. The ratio of the line from the alar crease to the nasal tip to the nasion to the nasal tip should be .55. If it is more than that the nose is overprojected, if it is under that ratio the nose is underprojected.
